Representing ELAN schools at IWFM Workplace Experience Conference

On Wednesday 7 October, our Estates Manager, Clive Farmer attended the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) Professional Development Programme (PDP) in Bristol, titled "From Facilities Management to Workplace Experience."

The event brought together workplace and facilities management professionals from across the UK to explore how organisations can create more engaging, inclusive, technology-enabled and people-focused environments.

The conference featured a range of presentations and discussions, including:

  • an insight into Lloyds Banking Group's workplace experience journey, showcasing progress made to date and their vision for future workplace environments.
  • the evolving role of workplace professionals, with an increasing focus on employee experience, wellbeing, inclusion and organisational outcomes alongside traditional facilities management responsibilities.
  • emerging workplace trends, including accessibility, hidden disabilities, workplace technology and future workplace design.
  • roundtable discussions that provided valuable networking opportunities, enabling delegates to share experiences, challenges and innovative ideas with colleagues from across the region.

One particularly thought-provoking session explored the challenges faced by young people who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) and the barriers they encounter when accessing employment opportunities. The discussion highlighted the importance of creating inclusive workplaces that support people from all backgrounds and circumstances.

Clive explained: "The event provided a valuable opportunity to learn from leading organisations and industry professionals. As workplace environments continue to evolve, it is important that we consider how our schools and workplaces can be inclusive, accessible and supportive for everyone. The discussions around employee wellbeing, accessibility and opportunities for young people entering the workforce offered useful insights that can help shape future thinking across the trust."
